Role & Responsibilities
The Principal AV Design Engineer will be managing and mentoring teams on large scale projects, alongside industry experts with overall responsibility for the technical content and accuracy of team output.
Project Management
* Lead a project team of engineers and other key stakeholders to include clients and suppliers to ensure that all projects are delivered in alignment with company expectations and standards to include being delivered on-time and within budget.
* Undertake a hands-on client facing role in the development, design and coordination of AV infrastructure.
* Represent company at technical meetings with customers, professional teams and contractors’ teams.
* Day to day decision making on project progress and direct liaison with and provides advice to client.
Technical AV Design
* Manage client AV requirements in line with client brief and/or other project requirements, ranging from consultancy advice to engineering designs
* Develop and specify AV infrastructure designs within a variety of building environments.
* Carry out engineering calculations to ensure drawings meet required robust industry and legal standards.
* Validation and checking of designs and specifications.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies related to AV engineering.
Construction Administration
* Survey, test, and report on existing installations.
* Specify activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
Leadership
* Provide feedback and supports engineer team to aid their personal development.
* Act in an ethical manner and follows the principles of the Ethics Charter and Ethics in Practice Guidelines.
Essential Skills and Experience
Project experience
* Min. 5 years of Security Design experience, including leading AV design for large international clients.
* Demonstrable management skills and prior experience of managing technical project teams in an AV environment.
* Practical experience of the design of AV infrastructure and its installation.
* Extensive experience of AV systems and physical infrastructure design.

* High attention to detail is imperative. You should enjoy problem solving technical and non-technical issues.
* Competency in specification design/drawing for various building types.
* Professional fluency in English

* Ability to prioritise own and team’s workload to achieve deadlines.
* Ability to clearly communicate design intent or other technical arguments as part of client facing role. Clear (written as well as oral) communication skills..
* Strong verbal and written communication skills. You must be confident and feel comfortable conversing on the telephone, via email and face-to-face as well as to be able to write concise reports.

* Ability to use IT based calculation, spreadsheet software, productivity tools

Desirable Skills and Experience
Relevant AV design industry qualifications, Revit/CAD experience
