We are looking for an analytical, relationship-focused Finance Business Partner to join our Finance Team at Peterborough College. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining financial accuracy with people-focused support, helping budget holders understand their financial performance and make informed decisions.
The Finance Business Partner will be reporting to the Group Director of Finance, you will play a key part in strengthening financial understanding across the organisation. Youll build strong relationships with managers, supporting them to navigate budgets, interpret data and improve financial outcomes.
What youll be doing as Finance Business Partner In this role, you will contribute to a wide range of financial activity, including:
Supporting and training budget holders to understand their financial responsibilities and performance
Helping prepare monthly management accounts, forecasts and year-end information
Completing month-end close procedures and ensuring accurate reconciliations
Attending regular meetings with managers to review performance and discuss variances
Providing clear financial insight and commentary to support decision-making
Helping to develop and improve financial processes across the department
What youll bring Were looking for someone who is confident working independently and collaboratively, with a positive, proactive approach. Youll need:
Recent experience in a finance role
Strong communication skills, especially when explaining financial information to non-finance colleagues
Excellent organisation skills and the ability to work accurately under pressure
Intermediate IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel
The ability to handle confidential information with professionalism
You will also need:
Level 2 English and Maths (GCSE or equivalent)
A Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject
AAT (or similar) qualification, or to be working towards it
Experience within a Further Education environment is desirable but not essential.
