We are seeking an enthusiastic and inspirational individual to join our growing Construction Team at Sunderland College. The ideal candidate will demonstrate outstanding teaching, learning, and assessment practices across all levels in Electrical Installation qualifications up to HTQ Level 4, ensuring positive outcomes for students. There is significant potential for further development and promotion within this curriculum area, and you will be part of the team driving this forward. Your responsibilities include planning, promoting, delivering, monitoring, and evaluating teaching and student progress. You will also create strong links with parents, employers, and the construction industry to provide students with an outstanding experience.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Plan, deliver, monitor, and evaluate high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment from Level 3 up to HTQ Level 4.
2. Take responsibility for the recruitment, retention, progress, and achievement of students on your programmes.
3. Lead curriculum planning, quality assurance, and programme performance reviews.
4. Provide academic and pastoral support, including tracking, monitoring, and intervention where needed.
5. Develop and maintain strong employer links to support positive destinations for learners.
6. Support marketing and recruitment activities, including open events and interviews.

Applicants must be qualified to Level 4 in a relevant Construction trade and have industrial experience in the sector. A teaching qualification and/or assessor qualification are desirable. Minimum qualifications include:

* Level 3 qualification in a relevant construction subject.
* Level 4 qualification in a relevant construction-related subject.
* Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English.


Skills & Experience:

* At least two years' industrial experience in construction sector.
* Experience delivering teaching, learning, and assessment in FE or HE settings.
* Experience planning and leading study programmes.
* Experience supporting students' achievement and personal development.
* Proficiency in using digital technologies to enhance learning.
* Experience with assessment and feedback aligned with awarding body standards.


Desirable Skills & Experience:

* Teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, CertEd, Level 5 Diploma) or willingness to obtain one.
* Assessor qualification or willingness to work towards it.
* Experience in quality assurance processes.
* Knowledge of inclusive practices and supporting learners with additional needs.
* Engagement with curriculum innovation and educational research.
* Familiarity with Microsoft Innovative Educator tools or similar digital platforms.
