Job Title: Caretaker
Location: Sunderland
Salary: £13 – £17 per hour (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are seeking hardworking and dependable Caretakers to work in schools across Sunderland.
As a Caretaker, you will play a key role in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students and staff. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are proactive, hands-on, and committed to supporting the smooth running of school sites.
Responsibilities of a Caretaker:
* Maintain cleanliness, safety, and security of school buildings and grounds
* Carry out general maintenance and minor repair tasks
* Ensure school premises are well-presented and safe for daily use
* Open and close school buildings as required
* Monitor heating, lighting, and basic facility systems
* Assist with setting up rooms and equipment for school activities and events
* Report any maintenance or health and safety issues promptly
* Support the day-to-day running of the school site
Requirements of a Caretaker:
* Previous experience in caretaking, site maintenance, or facilities roles is desirable
* Basic understanding of health and safety procedures
* Practical, hands-on approach with good problem-solving skills
* Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively
* Strong reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail
* Good communication and teamwork skills
* A professional and proactive attitude
* An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
