The Role
Nu Quantum is undertaking several key projects as part of the exciting and ambitious next phase of our roadmap towards accelerating the path to distributed quantum computing systems. We are looking for a mid-level Project Manager who will closely collaborate with the Nu Quantum Engineering team alongside internal and external stakeholders to successfully manage and deliver some of these ambitious projects, playing a key role in driving forward pioneering research and development efforts in the Quantum networking space.
Responsibilities
* Working with a mixture of Engineers and Research Scientists from industrial and academic backgrounds to establish and maintain project scope, timeline and budget requirements for projects in an R&D feasibility setting.
* Tracking progress and reporting upwards to the Programme Manager and Head of Engineering and Operations, to support communications with external stakeholders; the Nu Quantum Board of Directors, customers and investors.
* Attending internal and external project meetings, capturing and tracking project actions.
* Pioneering and championing project management best practice.
* Working closely with the Nu Quantum Finance and Procurement teams on budget estimation, reporting, procurement processes and documentation, ensuring these are as streamlined as possible for the Project Engineers.
* Developing and maintaining relationships with a range of Engineers and stakeholders.
* Promoting psychological safety and championing conflict resolution in project teams.
Requirements
About You
* You have experience managing cross-functional hardware development projects; working alongside teams, such as electronics, mechanical, software and control and optics engineers.
* You are passionate about problem solving and supporting project teams by proactively removing blockers.
* Experience working in an early stage research and development or academic environment.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships with multiple teams.
* Competence in project management tools, e.g. MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, YouTrack, Miro, Trello, MetroRetro, etc.
* A keen interest in a technical project management career, with a view to developing further on this career path.
Other (Desirable but not required)
* Physics/Engineering qualification or equivalent experience in an industrial setting.
* An inquisitive nature and interest in deep and emerging technologies.
* Experience in preparing and managing project budgets.
* Experience and understanding of systems engineering, verification and validation processes.
* Experience in coordinating efforts to establish user needs and drafting and maintaining requirements with engineering teams and key stakeholders.
