Job Title: Junior Project/Cost Accountant
Location: Banbury (office-based, full time)
Salary: £32,000 – £38,000 (depending on experience)
We are seeking a motivated
Junior Project/Cost Accountant
to join a growing finance team within a fast-paced, project-driven business. This is an exciting opportunity to work across a variety of projects for high-profile clients, often involving complex, multi-currency budgets.
The role is based in Banbury and offers a great chance to be part of a supportive, international team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Monitor changes in project budgets and ensure approvals are obtained.
* Review budgets before client submission to ensure accuracy and compliance.
* Complete accurate reconciliations of event budgets, working closely with Project Managers.
* Raise and distribute sales invoices to clients.
* Carry out due diligence to minimise bad debt exposure.
* Post payments to ledgers, set up urgent supplier and staff expense payments.
* Prepare monthly freelancer and staff expense runs.
* Review monthly event profit margins, unbilled revenue and reporting.
* Prepare bank reconciliations, GL reconciliations and project reporting.
* Maintain detailed financial records and produce ad-hoc reports as required.
Skills & Experience:
* Accounting/Finance degree, professional qualification (ACCA/ACA) or equivalent experience.
* Minimum 2 years' relevant experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
* Solid knowledge of accounting principles and functions.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
* Highly organised, methodical and able to manage own workload.
* Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP & Pivot tables).
* Knowledge of VAT, VAT returns and a basic understanding of PSA rules.
