Overview
The IVAS service plays a vital role in preventing hospital admission and supporting early discharge by delivering intravenous therapies as day cases or in the community. This senior leadership role combines staff and unit management, expert clinical infusion support and deputising for the Deputy IVAS Lead.
Leadership and Management
The post holder will have line management responsibility for the nursing/midwifery team within the 22‑chair Infusion Day Unit, working closely with the Deputy IVAS Lead, the Senior Sister for Home Infection Management Service (HIMS) and the Senior Sister for 7‑day Vascular Access Service. Responsibilities include delegated budget and workforce management, ensuring effective use of nursing resources, equipment and supplies, and visible inspirational leadership.
Clinical and Digital Practice
The role champions the use of EPIC and the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) within clinical practice, supporting IVAS staff to maximise the benefits of digital systems. The post holder will create and sustain a learning culture, delivering and contributing to teaching, mentoring and coaching sessions, encouraging innovation and service improvement.
