The Role
The Finance Assistant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the finance function, and ensuring the smooth running of daily accounting tasks.
This role is ideal for someone organised, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced e-commerce environment.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Finance
• Processing purchase invoices and reconciling supplier statements
• Managing accounts payable and receivable
• Preparing and processing payments
• Assisting with bank reconciliations
• Posting journals and maintaining the general ledger
• Supporting month-end and year-end closing processes
• Assisting with VAT returns and compliance
E-commerce & Operations Support
• Reconciling Shopify sales with accounting records
• Monitoring payment gateways (Stripe, PayPal, etc.)
• Supporting stock and inventory reconciliation
• Working closely with operations and customer service teams
Administration & Reporting
• Maintaining accurate financial records and documentation
• Producing regular management reports
• Supporting budgeting and forecasting activities
• Assisting the Group Financial Controller / CFO with ad-hoc projects.
About You:
• Previous experience in a Finance Assistant or similar role
• Working knowledge of accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
• Strong Excel / spreadsheet and analytical skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• Comfortable working with numbers and financial data
• Ability to manage deadlines and work independently
Desirable:
• Experience within e-commerce or retail
• AAT qualified or studying towards accounting qualification
