An exciting opportunity has arisen to support the delivery of Resuscitation Council UK Advanced Life Support courses within EEAST.
We are looking for passionate and professional Registered HCPs with current RCUK ALS instructor status to join our bank instructor faculty, supporting the delivery of regulated ALS courses to internal and external candidates.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have the pre-requisite qualifications, knowledge and experience to assist in the delivery of Advanced Life Support courses to the rigorous standards expected of the Resuscitation Council UK.
You will assist in the delivery of lectures, facilitate practical training and support the assessment of candidates against the RCUK Course specification.
You will ensure that the relevant course paperwork is completed in a timely and accurate manner, as required by RCUK.
Working under the oversight of the Course and Medical directors, you will contribute to assessment decisions, and support in the identification of those with ALS instructor potential.
Promoting EEAST as an inclusive education provider, you will support candidates with holistic, compassionate and supportive education delivery, drawing on your subject matter expert knowledge of RCUK Guidelines to assist candidates in achieving the learning outcomes of the course.
You will also support in the development of ALS instructor candidates who may be observing or assisting with course delivery.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The postholder will be a clinician responsible for the delivery of Resuscitation Council UK ALS Training Courses, in line with RCUK Regulations.
This includes the facilitation of sessions and assessment according to the course specification, session plan and marking guidelines.
The successful applicant will be a confident pre-hospital Paramedic, Nurse or Doctor, holding an RCUK General Instructor qualification, with authorisation and experience of teaching advanced life support.
RCUK Resuscitation Course Instructors are expected to act as subject matter experts, and so must maintain their knowledge, competence and confidence in delivering training and assessment against both the latest RCUK guidelines and course regulations.
This includes maintaining Continuous Professional Development, and practical skills in the clinical or simulated environment.
Instructors will be required to train and manage candidates in a professional yet compassionate manner, adhering to both RCUK and Trust guidelines, including the Academic Regulations Policy, liaising with the Course Directors as appropriate.
Candidates will be from a variety of clinical backgrounds and organisations and, therefore, instructors must uphold the rigorous standards expected of a public facing member of the Ambulance Service, including appearance, values and professionalism.
In addition to instructing duties, the successful applicant will also be required to support the development of RCUK ALS Instructor Candidates during course delivery.

Essential criteria
1. Registered Healthcare Professional
2. Experienced pre-hospital clinician, with practical application of resuscitation skills in a clinical environment
Desirable criteria
3. Experience of resuscitation in a variety of clinical settings
4. Knowledge and application of Advanced Resuscitation skills outside of normal pre-hospital practice
ALS Status and training experience
Essential criteria
5. RCUK ALS Instructor status (Ready to Instruct)
6. Valid RCUK ALS Qualification
7. Experienced Instructor meeting the regulations for maintaining competence and qualification
Desirable criteria
8. Level 3 Award in Education and Training or Equivalent or higher
9. Level 3 certificate in assessing vocational achievement or equivalent or higher
10. Level 4 certificate in Internal Quality Assurance or Equivalent or Higher
11. Experience of teaching other clinical courses from other awarding bodies
12. Aspiring or developing course director
You are required to hold a full UK manual driving licence with 1 year driving experience (a maximum of 3 penalty points for minor motoring offences will be considered).
