Overview
To provide safe, accurate and efficient dispensing of medication in line with clinical and practice protocols. The role supports the GP practice in delivering high-quality patient care by ensuring medicines are dispensed, labelled, and recorded correctly.
Responsibilities
* Receive and process prescriptions in accordance with practice and NHS procedures
* Dispense medicines accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with legal and safety requirements
* Label and package medications with clear instructions for patient use
* Provide patients with information and advice on the safe use of their prescribed medicines, referring queries to a pharmacist or GP when necessary
* Manage stock levels, including ordering, checking deliveries, rotating stock, and ensuring appropriate storage
* Support repeat prescription processes, liaising with patients, prescribers, and other staff to ensure continuity of supply
* Maintain accurate records and update the clinical system (SystmOne/EMIS as applicable)
* Follow all relevant policies including Infection Prevention and Control, Health and Safety, Confidentiality and Data Protection
* Work collaboratively with the practice team to deliver safe and effective patient care
Person Specification
* NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Pharmacy Services is desirable, though relevant experience will be considered
* Previous experience in a dispensing or pharmacy role is preferred
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy
* Good communication skills with both patients and colleagues
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Organised, reliable, and able to work to deadlines
Full or part-time hours available. Pay dependent on experience.
