Role Purpose
The purpose of the Senior Manager, Talent Acquisition (TA) role is to be responsible for identifying, sourcing, acquiring, assessing, and hiring candidates to fill open positions within the company. Delivering full life‑cycle recruiting, the Senior Manager will oversee complex hiring campaigns to source, screen, and prepare candidates for interviews with hiring managers. They will manage the approval–to–hire/approval–to–offer process on behalf of the HR function.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Talent Acquisition, the successful candidate will be a member of the HR team and a public face of the company during the recruiting process. The Senior Manager, TA promotes inclusive and diverse hiring practices that ensure a positive candidate and hiring manager experience, from the initial application to the final onboarding process. They maintain awareness of competitor practices, industry trends, and recruitment standards, and partner with HR team members on projects and initiatives as required.
It is essential that the successful candidate possesses prior and recent experience supporting recruitment campaigns in Research, CMC & Translational Medicine within a biotechnology or pharmaceutical environment.
The position is available initially on a fixed‑term basis for six (6) months with the successful candidate based at Milton Park, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, UK and cannot be considered remote.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaboratively consult with hiring managers and HRBPs to recommend hiring strategies for identifying and recruiting potential candidates.
* Proactively create applicant pools and talent pipelines by posting job ads through job boards, social media, state employment agencies, professional associations, and employee referral programs.
* Evaluate applications, review resumes, and complete initial phone interviews to establish a narrow candidate pool.
* Conduct competency‑based interviews, assess behaviours and competency levels to recommend to line managers the right candidate for the role, managing the appropriate assessment processes where relevant for the selection of candidates.
* Make recommendations to hiring managers on the top candidates for in‑person interviews.
* Maintain the internal Applicant Tracking System to efficiently manage volume recruitment, ensuring that the approvals process is rigorously maintained.
* Maintain the finance headcount tracker and keep up to date anticipated start dates versus open roles.
* Communicate and partner with recruitment agencies so that they can be proactive and positive ambassadors for the company.
* Review and make recommendations for agency contracts to ensure adherence to contract practices. Provide follow‑up as needed for contract negotiation.
* Work in partnership with the HR team to improve the onboarding process so that new employees are inducted to the company in a professional way which enables them to settle in the business smoothly.
* Partner with and guide managers through the recruitment process, so that each party understands their respective roles to ensure a consistent, rigorous process which delivers value.
* Work in partnership with the HR team to ensure selected candidates have a legal right to work in the country of hire.
* Ensure recruitment practices, candidate outreach and record‑keeping are compliant.
* Attend career fairs and establish local partnerships to promote diverse applicant pools.
* Ensure all positions are appropriately posted on the career site as required.
Education, Experience and Knowledge
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
* Experience working in the biotech or pharma industry.
* Experience in the recruitment of roles across Research, CMC and Translational Medicine.
* Direct experience of sourcing, screening & hiring practices.
* Proficiency with applicant tracking systems (ATS) and human resource information systems (HRIS).
* Familiarity with Office applications and popular social media platforms.
* Basic knowledge of contracts, such as non‑disclosure agreements and service level agreements.
* Knowledge of the full life‑cycle recruitment process.
* Knowledge of ethical and professional recruitment standards along with an understanding of diversity considerations.
* High degree of attention to detail.
