Offer description

Overview

The hourly rate for this role is £12.60 and up to £14.13 across selected locations within London. The hourly rate will increase after 6 months in role. No previous experience is required, and full training will be provided.

This is a role based in-store within the UK. Remote applicants will not be considered and applications from candidates outside the UK will not be progressed unless relevant UK qualifications and right to work can be confirmed and evidenced.

About the opportunity

As a Trainee Dispenser working within one of our stores, you will be a key member of our pharmacy team as you support the pharmacist and other healthcare professionals in your store to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of pharmacy and healthcare services. While you complete your Dispenser training (NVQ2) in the store’s healthcare department, you will build relationships with patients by listening and understanding their needs. From greeting customers and dispensing prescriptions to ensuring the safe sale of medicines, you’ll provide advice using your healthcare knowledge to help patients make informed decisions about their health and wellness.

This role requires working in-store in the UK. Applicants outside the UK will not be progressed unless relevant UK qualifications and right to work can be confirmed.

Key responsibilities

* Complete your training for the Pharmacy Advisor NVQ2 programme
* Dispense prescriptions while ensuring the safe supply of medicines (ordering medicines, labelling, dispensing, endorsing and collection of prescriptions)
* Work with other healthcare professionals in-store to assist in the management and delivery of pharmacy services
* Provide care and advice to patients about medicines and refer queries to the Pharmacist as appropriate
* Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to support the safe and legal dispensing of prescriptions
* Keep up to date with new innovations in-store and comply with operational processes
* Support patients to manage their prescriptions in their way with reliable repeats and help manage medicines to promote adherence and reduce waste

Working with evolving technologies in-store, you will have the opportunity to work with new systems that help develop traditional dispensing processes to improve patient safety and free up time to spend with patients. Regular updates and training will develop your healthcare knowledge, with career development options including the opportunity to train as a Pharmacy Technician or as part of the store leadership team.

What you’ll need to have

* Desire to learn and complete the Dispenser training programme (NVQ2)
* Current and valid UK right to work. This role is not eligible for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker Visa.

It would be great if you also have

* Experience working in community pharmacy

Our benefits

* Discretionary Christmas Gift Payment
* Generous staff discount
* Enhanced maternity/paternity/adoption leave pay and gift card for anyone expecting or adopting a child
* Flexible benefits scheme
* Access to free, 24/7 counselling and support through TELUS Health, our Employee Assistance Programme

We have a great range of benefits in addition to the above that offer flexibility to suit you—find out more at boots.jobs/rewards. Please note, salary estimates on third-party sites are not provided or endorsed by Boots and may not be accurate.
