We are seeking Temporary School Business Managers to join Hays and the senior leadership teams of our dynamic and inclusive schools in the Preston area. These are key leadership roles, offering the opportunity to influence strategic decision-making and ensure the school’s financial and operational sustainability.
As a School Business Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the strategic leadership of the school, working closely with the Headteacher andernors. You will lead on all aspects of financial planning and management, ensuring the school makes the most effective use of its resources to support teaching and learning.
Key responsibilities will include:
1. Strategic Financial Leadership – Lead the development, monitoring, and reporting of the school’s budget. Provide high-level financial advice to the Headteacher andernors, ensuring long-term financial sustainability and value for money.
2. Financialpliance and Risk Management – Ensure robust financial controls are in place and that the schoolplies with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
3. Human Resources – Oversee recruitment, staff development, and HRpliance, including maintaining the Single Central Record.
4. Facilities and Site Management – Ensure the school site is safe, secure, and well-maintained, working closely with the site team.
5. Administration and ICT – Lead the administration team and ensure ICT systems support the school’s strategic goals.
6. Procurement and Contracts – Oversee procurement processes, manage contracts, and ensure effective asset management.
What We’re Looking For
7. A relevant qualification in business or financial management, or equivalent senior-level experience.
8. Proven experience in strategic financial planning and budget management.
9. Experience working in a school or education setting.
10. Strong leadership and people management skills.
11. In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation and risk management.
12. Excellentmunication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
13. A proactive, flexible, and resilient approach.
