Your Role
As our School Caretaker, you will play a vital role in maintaining the security, cleanliness, and overall upkeep of our school premises. You will be the face of the school when dealing with contractors and suppliers, ensuring our environment remains safe and welcoming.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure the school premises are clean, safe, and secure, including both buildings and grounds.
* Perform cleaning, maintenance, and minor repairs, while also supervising cleaning staff.
* Promote health and safety standards throughout the school.
* Manage porterage duties, including moving furniture and equipment.
* Report any maintenance issues to the Head Teacher and carry out small repairs.
* Coordinate larger repairs and obtain quotes from contractors.
* Conduct daily cleaning and ad-hoc duties, such as litter picking and waste disposal.
* Oversee emergency cleaning tasks, including gritting and spill clean-ups.
* Organize annual deep cleaning of classrooms and common areas.
* Maintain cleaning tools and products, ensuring adequate stock levels.
* Act as the main key holder, managing the security of the premises.
* Lock and unlock the school as needed, including after hours.
* Conduct regular security checks and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
* Advise the Head Teacher on security matters to maintain a safe learning environment.
What We’re Looking For
* Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools.
* Previous caretaking experience in a school setting.
* Experience in building maintenance and security systems.
* Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations.
* Basic DIY skills and good interpersonal abilities.
* Literacy and numeracy skills to effectively communicate and manage tasks.
* Ability to work in an environment with SEMH children.
* Willingness to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.
