The Role: CNC Setter
We are currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Setter to join a well-established manufacturing business based in the Huntingdon area. This is a hands-on opportunity for a CNC Setter who enjoys working in a tooling-focused environment, supporting the manufacture, modification, and maintenance of precision tooling used in high-volume manufacturing.
This permanent position would suit a CNC Setter with a practical, methodical approach and a strong focus on quality and machine performance. Working closely with Toolmakers and Engineers, the CNC Setter will play a key role in ensuring tooling is produced efficiently, safely, and to specification within a modern manufacturing facility.
Location: Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire
Type: Permanent, full-time
Main Responsibilities:
* Set and operate CNC milling machines (3-axis)
* Assist with the manufacture and modification of production tooling and tooling accessories
* Prepare and set aluminium blanks prior to machining
* Select, load, and run appropriate CNC programs
* Monitor machining operations to ensure accuracy, quality, and efficiency
* Carry out routine machine cleaning and basic maintenance checks
* Report machine faults or issues in a timely manner
* Support tooling assembly, preparation, and repair work as required
* Work collaboratively with Toolmakers, CNC Operators, and Engineering teams
Skills/Experience:
* Previous experience as a CNC Setter or within a CNC machining environment
* Practical understanding of CNC milling processes
* Ability to read and follow technical drawings and machining instructions
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
* Hands-on, problem-solving approach
* Experience working with aluminium components (desirable)
* Time-served apprenticeship or CNC-related qualification (advantageous but not essential)
