Job Description The Transport Operations Support Manager will take full operational and decision making accountability for the transport function. Direct reports will be Transport Supervisors, Drivers and Administrative functions that support the running of the operation. Working hours: Monday to Friday days, 40 hour week Key Duties of the Transport Operations Support Manager: Ensure the shift is running to optimum cost effectiveness by ensuring the correct headcount, agency usage, reduction of absence, performance is maintained and where possible exceeded and identifying areas where cost can be reduced. Proactively manage the Transport Supervisors by coaching them to ensure the right decisions are made to avoid conflict and cost. Devise and apply systems and methods to ensure communication to the day shift and the wider depot is optimized. Coach team in decision making, running reports and challenging driver’s hours, behaviour whilst facilitating training across the shift Ensure the fleet is optimized and cost effective by ensuring servicing, reducing infringements and de-hire/collection and spot hire equipment is used to maximum effect without adding the burden of added cost. Taking a proactive and positive stance in regard to the implementation of business and group wide initiatives. Working with the DDM’s to support driver training and availability of drivers et al for all training and development activities. Supporting the wider depot cost effectiveness and operating channels by removing barriers to ensure optimal working. Ensure accidents/incidents et al are investigated and appropriate action plans are put in place. Taking the lead in conflict resolution across the shift and processes are followed and outcomes are fair.
