Job summary
Hoveton & Wroxham Medical Centre has a fantastic opportunity for a medical secretary to join the team on a permanent contract for 20 hours per week, part-time.
This is an essential front-line role at the practice, providing an efficient, comprehensive secretarial and administrative support service to the practice management team.

Main duties of the job
1. Providing a full secretarial service for all GPs and health professionals, as required. This includes the typing of letters, reports, patient referrals, meeting minutes, memorandums, etc., in an accurate and quality manner.
2. Handling patient and practice queries, regarding hospital appointments and treatments, confidentially
3. Ensuring that any requests for information from medical records are appropriately dealt with, according to practice policy, and that all subsequent charges are invoiced appropriately.
4. Maintaining the computer-based clinic system, in an accurate and secure manner.
5. Assisting with the gathering of statistics and information, when required.
6. Performing any reasonable administrative tasks as requested.

Qualifications
Essential
7. Good standard of education, specifically English.
Experience
Essential
8. Audio and copy-typing skills.
9. Administrative experience and good organisation skills.
10. Knowledge of SystmOne and ERS would be an advantage but not essential.
11. Sound knowledge of medical terminology.
12. Proficiency in the MS Office package, as well as excellent general IT skills and experience of working with a clinical system.
13. Experience in read-coding.
14. Ability to 'think on your feet'
15. Excellent communication skills and a friendly approach.
16. Understanding of the need to maintain confidentiality and data security, at all times.
17. Ability to multi-task, prioritise and work accurately under pressure.
18. Ability to work as part of a team, and using your initiative to work independently.
19. Willingness to provide extra cover when required.
