Vacancy detail
A vacancy has arisen for a Sergeant (Logs (Sup)) to serve as Sergeant Logistics at 605 Sqn, RAF Cosford on Full Time Reserve Service (Limited Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of not before 14 September 2026 (or later, subject to candidate status).
Prospective candidates should be aware that No 605 Sqn RAuxAF is a part of the Reserve Logistics Support Wg, which also comprises No 504 Sqn RAuxAF at RAF Wittering and No 501 Sqn RAuxAF at RAF Brize Norton. The Reserves Logistics Support Wg sits under the Commander Support Force based at RAF Wittering. As part of 2 Group, the Sqn's role is to provide a cadre of RAF Reserve Logistic and RAFP personnel to support the regular RAF on operations and exercises, both in the UK and overseas. The post holder will report directly to the FS Training. They will need to possess strong communication and organisational skills, have a confident manner and be comfortable engaging with both military and civilian personnel in various environments. As an integral member of the Sqn the successful applicant will also be required to support other Sqn activities and take a lead during duty weekends. The incumbent must be prepared to work regular weekends.
Primary Duties
* Deputising for the Flt Sgt Trg during periods of absence.
* Coordinate and facilitate the delivery of Logs (Sup) Ph2, Ph3 and continuation trg for all RAF Logs (Sup) PTVR personnel and other trade related duties as tasked by the Eng & Logs Reserve HQ.
* In the absence of the Eng & Logs Reserve HQ WO, provide specialist knowledge, support and advice to relevant stakeholders on all matters relating to Reserve Logs (Sup) training and activities.
* Hold the position of Logs (Sup) Reserve lead instructor liaising with all other Logs (Sup) trainers across the UK in support of the Eng & Logs Res HQ WO.
* Maintain direct interaction with the Eng & Logs Reserve HQ Logs Supply WO to assist with the planning, organisation and maintenance of Logs (Sup) PTVR training across the UK.
* In conjunction with the Logs (Sup) Reserve training team assist Eng & Logs Reserve HQ Logs Supply WO with the Annual Reserve Logs Conference.
* Be prepared to travel if necessary to aid with PTVR training requirements.
* Sufficiently prepare each Sqn PTVR for any external trg, tasking or mobilisation.
* Ensure personnel are sufficiently prepared with all mandatory qualifications and competencies in order to support wider Defence tasks.
* Line management and development responsibilities for JNCO Sup (FTRS).
Essential Skills
Must either have been, or currently be, a substantive Sergeant (Logs (Sup)) or a Corporal (Logs (Sup)) eligible for promotion in accordance with AP 3392 Vol 2 Leaflet 560 and AP 3376 Vol 1. All Promotions will be ratified by means of a Promotion Board. If an applicant has been out of full‑time military service and is applying for a post on promotion, they will also need to send their civilian appraisals or equivalent to evidence recent skills, knowledge and experience to be considered by the Promotion Board.

Regular Service Applicants
Personnel currently serving in the Regular Royal Air Force should be mindful of the current Early Termination Minimum Waiting Time (MWT) for their respective Rank, Profession and ensure this MWT is compatible with the post sponsor's proposed start date, prior to applying.

Admin Discharge
Ex‑service candidates who have been administratively discharged through the KR1027 process will have their applications rejected as they are not eligible to join the RAF Reserves in accordance with AP 3391.

Transition between TCoS
Personnel taking this appointment from other TCoS should consider the impact on any accrued entitlements, such as leave, resettlement etc and should seek specialist guidance where required as certain entitlements are TCoS specific and may not be retained or transferred on transition between TCoS.
Flexible Working Arrangements
In accordance with the Flexible Working (FW) Policy, Reserve personnel can request FW arrangements with their line manager. Any immediate FW requirements should be agreed with the line management at the interview stage.
Individual Reinforcement Training (IRT) (Module 1) and RAF Fitness Test (RAFFT)
Reserve personnel are required to maintain currency in IRT and the RAFFT iaw the relevant TCoS. The successful applicant will be expected to undertake IRT and the RAFFT within 6 months of commencing employment (if required).

Personnel serving on FTRS(LC/HC)/ADC TCoS are eligible to occupy Single Living Accommodation (SLA) if available, at entitled rates, if serving within the Air Command TLB.
