Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Income Management Officer within the Income team. We are passionate about providing excellent customer service to Dudley MBC customers and deliver high performance, continuing to see monthly reductions in rent arrears collection rates in what is a challenging financial time for all. This involves the maximisation of income, debt recovery and providing support, advice, information and guidance to customers to avoid financial difficulties.
In addition to this the post holder will have generic responsibility for key tasks such as Court work, complex cases, Use & Occupation accounts, Former Tenancy Arrears, Projects, Prisoners and Deceased accounts.
Key Requirements
* To contribute to and develop practical rent recovery processes.
* To manage staff as required to promote efficient operation of services.
* To undertake research and support policy development and service improvements.
* Strong financial literacy and understanding of income management processes.
* Ability to work effectively with a wide range of residents, often those facing financial difficulties.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Knowledge of welfare benefits systems and relevant legislation.
* To contribute to the development of systems, processes and procedures which maximise both income and service efficiency.
* To produce statistical data and performance reports as directed to promote effective performance management.
* To attend and represent Dudley council at court for possession proceedings.
* To plan, monitor and provide progress reports on agreed service improvement projects, highlighting risks, issues and dependencies.
* To have experience of using NEC housing system and able to interpret and train others on software developments within the system.
* Carry out home visits to engage with customers and assist in resolving outstanding debt.
* Deal with enquiries from internal and external customers and respond in writing, on the telephone or face to face as appropriate.
* Ability and willingness to work flexibly and attend meetings and other events outside normal business hours to meet the needs of the service.
* Ensure support of safeguarding procedures to support the safety and well being of customers.
Workplace Attendance
Working in the office 3+ days a week (pro-rata).
