Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Location: HM Naval Base, Devonport Royal Dockyard, Plymouth
Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday

We're looking for a detail-driven and ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support a wide range of projects across a secure estate. If you're ready to grow your career in a dynamic environment, we want to hear from you!
Your Role Includes:
Pre-Construction
1. Preparing and issuing tender enquiries
2. Reviewing tender returns for accuracy and value
3. Creating cost estimates (ROCs) for proposed works
4. Supporting scope and pricing document development
5. Engaging with suppliers for competitive tenders
Commercial Reporting & Risk
6. Assisting with monthly cost reports and forecasts
7. Monitoring budgets and flagging issues
8. Updating risk registers with commercial insights
9. Supporting post-project reviews
Live Project Delivery
10. Supporting projects from award to completion
11. Preparing and submitting payment applications
12. Managing change control and subcontract orders
13. Tracking costs, budgets, and cash flows
14. Suggesting cost-saving initiatives
15. Maintaining accurate records in systems like Maximo & Coupa
What We're Looking For:
Essential Skills
16. Experience in QS, commercial, procurement, or project support
17. Understanding of tendering and commercial documentation
18. Strong communication and numeracy skills
19. Organised and deadline-driven
20. Proficient in MS Excel & Word
Desirable Extras
21. Experience with MOD contracts or secure sites
22. Familiar with CAFM systems
23. Knowledge of NEC or JCT contracts
24. Interest in project management
25. Studying towards QS qualifications (HNC, degree, RICS)
