The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Scottish Trauma Group Co‑ordinator (STAG) post within Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley. Working as part of a multi‑disciplinary team, the main duties of the post holder will be to contribute to STAG’s aims for trauma patients. This will involve ensuring that complete, accurate and timely data is available on an ongoing basis. This supports the review of the quality of care provided to patients and associated outcomes, and enables improvements in care to be identified and implemented. Experience of health research / clinical audit / data management / health information is essential.


Duration, Location and Working Pattern

* Location: Royal Alexandra Hospital, Orthopaedics
* Permanent contract
* Full‑time position (36 hours per week)
* Shift pattern: Monday to Friday


Key Responsibilities

* Develop and implement methods of comprehensive case ascertainment to identify patients eligible for inclusion in the audit/ register using data provided from other sources (e.g. IT systems, case notes, ward records and attendance at multidisciplinary meetings) and according to agreed national inclusion/exclusion criteria.
* Ensure accurate and reliable data collection and input of audit data information via standard proformas to the STAG.
* Develop relationships with clinicians and other relevant staff to ensure that all appropriate patients are included in the audit/ register and that guidance can be sought for clarification of specific clinical conditions/ terminology.
* Prepare and present audit reports locally in a variety of formats (e.g. written reports, tables, charts, formal presentations).
* Disseminate audit reports enabling inter‑hospital comparisons and improvements in performance by measuring progress against local and national targets, reporting as necessary and taking appropriate action in resolving problems.
* Liaise regularly with the national audit/ registry team to ensure that national guidance is adhered to locally, attend National Audit Coordinator meetings and participate in the further development of the audit/ register.
* Liaise with other hospitals and providers of care to complete required national audit/ register requirements, e.g. rehabilitation services, Scottish Ambulance Service, Allied Health Professionals.
* Ensure quality assurance of the audit data submitted to the national audit/ register team, working closely with them to correct any validation queries.


Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job


Essential

* Registered clinician, e.g. registered nurse/AHP with evidence of current registration.
* Post registration experience at band 5 or equivalent in relevant clinical area.
* Experience of health research / clinical audit / data management / health information.
* Well‑developed organisational skills.
* Consistent attention to detail.
* Positive and flexible approach with good time management.
* Able to work as a team member and autonomously.


Desirable

* Statistical awareness.
