The Business Development Senior Manager (BDM) role is focused on building and maintaining client relationships, originating opportunities, and winning profitable work within the Higher Education sector, specifically aligned with our Infrastructure, Government, and Health (IGH) practice and the Education, Skills, and Productivity (ESP) team.
The role involves translating national ESP market strategies into regional growth plans, leading pipeline development, expanding contacts within target universities, and developing new advisory products. The BDM will also be responsible for raising the firm's profile through conferences and speaking opportunities, managing CRM and pipeline processes, supporting strategy and account planning, and coaching teams on sales practices.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading go-to-market strategies in Higher Education.
* Developing relationships with target universities alongside client partners.
* Launching new advisory products and developing sales pipelines.
* Enhancing KPMG's market profile through conferences and external engagement.
* Managing client relationships, focusing on creating new opportunities and expanding contact points.
* Driving sales efforts, including proposal management, negotiations, and cross-functional collaboration.
* Leveraging internal and external networks to support growth.
The ideal candidate will possess:
* Extensive knowledge of the UK Higher Education sector, gained through experience with HEIs, consultancy, or sales in a related field.
* At least 6 years of experience in sales or a client-facing professional role.
* Strong relationship-building skills at senior levels.
* Excellent networking and strategic thinking abilities.
* Strong communication, influencing, and organizational skills.
* Ability to work under pressure, manage conflicting priorities, and demonstrate resilience.
