Job Description
Ready to take the next step and use your experience where it truly makes a difference?
We’re looking for a Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in South Shields supporting pupils aged 3–16 with complex needs, including ASD, communication needs, learning difficulties, and physical disabilities.
This is a full-time position, 9:00am – 3:00pm, offering consistency, structure, and the chance to become a key part of a well-established team.
Your role:
You’ll play a vital part in supporting both pupils and staff, bringing confidence, initiative, and a steady presence to the classroom.
* Leading and supporting targeted interventions and small group work
* Providing 1:1 support for pupils with complex needs
* Working closely with teaching staff to adapt lessons and learning materials
* Supporting behaviour through structured, consistent approaches
* Acting as a role model for other support staff and contributing to the wider team
You may be based in either primary or secondary classes, depending on your experience and where your strengths fit best.
What you’ll need:
* A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
* Strong experience working within SEN settings
* Confidence supporting pupils with a range of needs, including autism and SEMH
* A proactive, solution-focused mindset
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build trust quickly
Why this role stands out:
* A school that focuses on the whole child, not just the curriculum
* Opportunities to develop specialist SEN skills
* A supportive leadership team that values experience and input
* Clear pathway to a permanent position
This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who wants to step into a role where they’re trusted, valued, and able to make a real impact every single day.
