Responsibilities

* Play a significant role to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of colleagues and others; work safely within the team, be aware of hazards within your work area, wider site and operating procedures and prevent incidents.
* The main purpose of the mechanical engineer role is to be responsible for the maintenance, repair and improvement of all mechanical assets across our sites.
* Ensure the delivery of efficient and effective maintenance, repair, problem solving and improvement of assets and their availability.
* Work closely with operations teams, CAPEX and other maintenance groups to maximise efficiency of operational assets.
* Utilise the Computerised Maintenance Management System (SAP-PM) for raising, updating, and recording maintenance tasks in accordance with a weekly asset care delivery plan.
* Collaborate with Operations, Site Management and Maintenance Planners to ensure compliance with and delivery of Plant KPI metrics.
* Ensure adherence to plans and delivery of wider business targets.
* Record stock items and spare parts usage via the SAP-PM system and Diageo stock control processes.
* Support Maintenance Managers and Business Leaders and act as a point of contact for asset care Manufacturing Excellence (TRACC) metric delivery at sites.
* Lead or support workstreams that improve reliability and efficiency and deliver potential cost savings to the business.
* Own and drive asset care IMPROVE activity at site and within the asset care community; participate in/lead root cause problem solving (RCPS) and provide subject matter expertise to identify, action and implement long-term fixes.

Key Accountabilities

* Ensure adherence to Health & Safety, Environmental & Quality Standards.
* Work in line with operating procedures to manage hazards/risks and follow hazard/incident reporting processes.
* Ensure compliance with maintenance regulatory standards within the area.
* Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance Planners and Craft groups to deliver all mandatory and requested maintenance with minimal production impact, ensuring correct spare parts availability per weekly/daily asset care plan.
* Respond promptly to plant breakdowns; analyse, fault-find and repair; perform root cause analysis to minimise downtime.
* Accurately record and report maintenance outcomes via SAP MMS to enable sharing of best practice.
* Implement best practice processes and procedures to maximise effectiveness and efficiency, maintaining strong interfaces with key relationship teams.
* Attend or lead critical tier meetings at sites to represent asset care.
* Provide feedback on mechanical improvement workstreams and participate with stakeholders in Continuous Improvement.
* Collaborate with Operations to develop focused improvements to drive plant uptime and cost competitiveness.
* Train and coach colleagues as required.
* Demonstrate excellent analytical skills and the ability to drive improvements.
* Display strong interpersonal and communication skills across all levels of the plant.
* Maintain professional conduct and a good attitude; demonstrate the ability to organise and prioritise multiple tasks.
* Possess knowledge of Reliability Maintenance techniques and experience with data analysis, Excel, Word, and SAP or similar business systems.
* Be able to work independently as well as part of a team with meticulous attention to detail.
* Some sites operate on a 24/7 basis; the jobholder may be required to provide 24-hour breakdown cover on a pre-determined rota.
* Some sites require a full UK driving license to drive company vehicles.
* Experience in engineering/production or service environments is advantageous, though not essential.
* Knowledge of manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

* HNC level qualification in engineering or equivalent experience
* Time served engineer with hands-on maintenance/engineering experience

As a temporary contractor, you’ll be employed by Magnit Global, our Managed Service Provider for temporary contract hiring; you will not be employed by Diageo.
