The project:
Are you looking for a career which is rewarding, at the cutting edge of project development and where you can really make a difference? Come and join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the most exciting and largest megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy.
Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, playing a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved right from the start of such a historic project.
We are looking for Project Managers to support the delivery of the accommodation campus which will provide accommodation and amenity facilities for up to 2,400 workers during the 9-12 year construction period of SZC.
Your scope of accountability will encompass a diverse range of projects, including but not limited to:
5. Managing the design and construction of a 2,400 bed campus, made up of modular accommodation blocks, multistorey carpark, amenity buildings, roads and footways, within an extensive landscaped estate.
6. Visits to the modular manufactures off-sites to check on progress and to manage any issues.
7. The welfare facilities provided as part of the accommodation campus will require a surface water network, a foul water network and sewage pumping station.
8. Required infrastructure for the operation of the accommodation campus e.g. communications, potable water, and power
You'll be responsible for:
9. Defining the work scope within contracts and packages, managing interfaces with other program elements.
10. Lead and manage on-site project activities, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
11. Securing necessary resources and maintaining SQEP (Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel) within the project team.
12. Developing and executing effective execution strategies and plans aligned with the Programme Execution Plan (PEP).
13. Driving delivery of contracts, ensuring safety, timeliness, budget adherence, and meeting technical requirements.
14. Monitoring progress, identifying, and resolving issues, managing risks, and facilitating resolution.
15. Maintaining effective communication with stakeholders and reporting progress to senior management.
16. Ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and applying principles of continuous improvement.
17. Managing financial aspects, including reviewing contractor payment applications.
18. Ensuring plans align and are in compliance to Development Consent Order requirements.
19. Working with portion planning resources to guarantee delivery of works and compliance with Integrated Work Schedules (IWS).
You'll need to have
20. Demonstrable construction project management success in complex, regulated environments.
21. Ability to build lasting client relationships and work collaboratively as part of an integrated team.
22. Hold degree qualification preferably in engineering, project management or construction related discipline
23. Knowledge of safety and regulatory standards in the construction or energy sector.
24. Experience in engineering design, contract management, procurement, cost control, and risk management.
25. Detailed understanding of EPR design and familiarity with NEC contracts.
26. Knowledge of CDM Regulations.
