Join Our Team as a Mencap Cymru Engagement Connector in Carmarthenshire

We would love you to join us as a Engagement Officer in Carmarthenshire on a part-time basis (18 hours per week). This is a fixed-term contract until March 2027, with the possibility of a two-year extension.

About the Role

Mencap Cymru, in partnership with Carmarthenshire Council, is leading a new Preventative Services Project. As an Engagement Officer, you'll work co-productively in planning, developing, delivering, and coordinating a range of support for individuals with a learning disability in Carmarthenshire.

You'll work alongside colleagues and use your experience to engage with individuals, families, and the wider community, helping to build a community where everyone can achieve their best.

What You'll Do

* Support the Community Connector at external events and media opportunities.
* Stay up to date with local and national changes affecting people with a learning disability.
* Develop engagement mechanisms with local Mencap projects, third sector partners, families/carers, and community projects.
* Use Mencap Cymru's social media to share stories and amplify the voices of people with a learning disability.
* Work collaboratively with people with a learning disability, their families, and wider networks across Carmarthenshire and Wales.

* Proven experience and a passion for community inclusion.
* Motivation and commitment to community-led ways of working.
* Experience working in partnership with people with a learning disability in community settings.
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
* Knowledge of services and local assets in Carmarthenshire.
* A flexible, positive, and inclusive approach to work.
* Willingness to work in a self-empowered team and share local knowledge and opportunities.
