We have an excellent full-time opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join us at Cygnet Hospital Bury Dunes, located in Bury, Greater Manchester. This role will be working on our 12 bed male PICU ward.
Main duties of the job
South Hampton Ward is a 12 bed male PICU that accepts emergency and crisis admissions. Referrals come to us from all areas, including acute and prison services.
The aim of South Hampton Ward is to provide a short, rapid intervention to help service users regain a sense of control and order in their lives, so they can move to a less restrictive care setting or return home.
The team at Cygnet Bury Dunes are experienced in supporting individuals that are deaf, and staff are trained in British Sign Language.

Job description
Job responsibilities
* Lead on the provision of high-quality care to the service users admitted to South Hampton ward
* Act as a positive role model, maintaining and demonstrating a positive attitude towards patients, their families, visitors, and other staff.
* Take overall responsibility for patient treatment plans in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team
* Assess referrals & undertake mental state examinations of service users
* Undertake appropriate investigations, diagnosis & treatment
* Conduct ward rounds, patient reviews & clinical audits
* Lead the implementation of risk assessment, risk management & embed clinical governance within the service
* Supervise reports for Mental Health Act tribunals & managers hearings & attend hearings
* Liaise with the Ministry of Justice for transfer of patients and approval of leave as required
* Maintain patient records effectively
* Ensure and maintain regular communication with the Site Medical Director and Hospital Manager
* Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, staff, and other concerned bodies; maintaining appropriate reports.
* Attend and contribute to academic meetings and adhere to professional standards for CPD as set out by GMC, the Department of Health, and the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
