Job Description
My client has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Level Geo-Environmental Engineer for either their Milton Keynes or Swindon offices, offering great development and progression prospects compared to a larger consultancy. They are a busy and friendly geo-environmental, geotechnical, and site investigation company operating on projects across the south of England, Wales, and the Midlands for clients ranging from small to medium house builders to commercial businesses and mineral extraction companies. This role allows staff to gain a broad range of knowledge in a short time.
Responsibilities
1. Manage and mentor a small team of Engineers
2. Technical lead within the team
3. Carry out Site Contamination Assessments from Stage 1 Tier 1 to Stage 3
4. Conduct Site Investigations for geotechnical appraisal and combined investigations using common techniques
5. Schedule contamination, waste classification, and geotechnical laboratory testing
6. Design remediation works and validation
7. Write interpretative geo-environmental reports
8. Project management and client liaison, including cost control
9. Perform infiltration testing
10. Maintain good HSEQ standards
11. Hold a full clean driving license
A thorough technical understanding of contaminated land legislation and consultancy is required. An understanding of interpretative geotechnical report writing and the EIA process would be advantageous.
Qualifications
The candidate should be degree qualified in a relevant field, with a related Masters Degree being advantageous. Chartership with a relevant professional body is also preferred. The candidate must have significant experience in Ground Investigation, especially in Geo-Environmental aspects.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate would be solution-focused, with excellent communication skills, a strong HSEQ and technical record, and proven project management abilities. They should also be an effective manager and mentor to junior staff.
