The Adam Foundation is a UK-based charity committed to civic renewal, cohesion, integration, leadership development, and systemic change. As we expand our strategic programmes, office presence, and subsidiary initiatives, we are recruiting a Charity Manager to support and oversee the Foundation’s growing operations and partnerships.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Charity Manager will take responsibility for delivering operational excellence across the organisation, including strategic programme coordination, internal systems, governance support, stakeholder engagement, and grants management. This is a senior position ideal for someone who is both delivery-focused, strategically minded and passionate about change, with the ability to lead on internal processes and support organisational leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership and Organisational Delivery
* Oversee day-to-day operations of the Foundation and coordinate across all workstreams, partners and subsidiaries to ensure timely and effective delivery.
* Manage internal systems, schedules and staff coordination to support high-quality and compliant delivery across the organisation.
* Provide operational oversight of the Foundation’s new office in Millbank, including and overseeing staffing arrangements.
Strategic Planning and KPI Management
* Support the CEO in setting and delivering the Foundation’s strategic goals, objectives and workplans.
* Track organisational progress against pre-agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), reporting regularly on outcomes, risks and impact.
* Identify and escalate delivery risks or resource needs and support implementation of action plans to address these.
Governance and Subsidiary Coordination
* Ensure compliance with Charity Commission and internal governance requirements across all activities.
* Coordinate board and subcommittee meetings, prepare board packs, draft minutes, and monitor follow-up actions.
* Provide governance and operational support to the Foundation’s subsidiaries, including the Avicenna Foundation and Community Exchange Hub, ensuring coherence, oversight and shared standards.
Stakeholder Management and Engagement
* Act as a primary point of contact for a range of internal and external stakeholders, including political, civic, community and philanthropic actors.
* Manage stakeholder communication, engagement records and relationship development plans.
* Represent the Foundation in meetings and events, ensuring effective coordination and follow-up.
Grants and Endowment Support
* Support the implementation and oversight of the Foundation’s endowment strategy, including monitoring investment alignment, compliance, and charitable impact.
* Lead on grants management, including application tracking, funder reporting, grant agreements, outcome monitoring and compliance requirements.
* Ensure all grant-funded activities meet quality standards and contractual obligations.
Communications and External Relations
* Oversee scheduling and publishing of digital content, including social media and newsletters, ensuring consistency with the Foundation’s tone and priorities.
* Manage and schedule social media output (e.g. Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Instagram), aligning content with programme milestones, public statements, and stakeholder engagement.
* Engage and lead stakeholder relationships with significant leaders, including business people, faith leaders and politicians.
* Draft reports, stakeholder updates, briefings and statements for use by the CEO and leadership team.
* Support the development and delivery of public-facing events, engagements and campaigns.
Person Specification
Essential:
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in a charity, civic or public sector operational or managerial role.
* Strong organisational and project delivery skills, including experience managing workplans and KPIs.
* Experience in stakeholder engagement, governance processes, and compliance requirements.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities with professionalism, integrity and discretion.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Alignment with the values and purpose of the Adam Foundation.
Desirable:
* Experience in office management.
* Knowledge of endowment and charitable investment structures.
* Experience managing grants, donor relationships, or foundation reporting processes.
* Familiarity with charity finance, risk management, or policy environments.
