Job Overview
Our Markets division is set to grow rapidly over the next 12 months, and we are building a team of specialists to maintain Mitie's leadership in the sector. The role involves managing energy risk and procurement, shifting towards green power contracts and risk mitigation strategies, including PPA, REC, and Carbon management.
This position requires managing customers' energy positions daily, following established processes to ensure seamless service. Candidates should have energy markets experience, understanding of supply/demand fundamentals, and a focus on customer management.
Main Duties
* Manage energy hedges for strategic customers with flexible supply agreements.
* Monitor energy markets daily in collaboration with the Research team.
* Send daily market updates and hedge recommendations to customers.
* Advise on gas and power purchases aligned with customer risk policies and execute trades.
* Record and log all trades per FCA guidelines, using voice recordings where possible.
* Assist customers in developing and reviewing energy purchasing strategies.
* Generate reports on performance metrics and portfolio positions.
* Stay informed on energy policy developments affecting wholesale markets and charges.
* Support senior risk managers with reports and analysis as needed.
* Perform any other duties within the scope of the role.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
* At least 1 year of energy sector experience, preferably in trading, risk management, or research.
* Understanding of wholesale market drivers and hedging techniques.
* Attention to detail and ability to perform complex tasks accurately.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
* Strong data analysis and reporting skills.
* Numerate, highly literate, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
* Confident and composed under pressure.
* Ability to communicate knowledge passionately and clearly.
The role is based in London, Northampton, or other Mitie offices, with occasional travel to customer sites. Flexible working from home is available 2-3 days per week.
