The Children’s Outpatient Service is delivered across 2 hospital sites and one community clinic. We support children and young people aged 0-16 years with a variety of conditions. We run general paediatric clinics as well as specialist clinics such as Diabetes, Asthma and Coeliac. We also have visiting Consultants from regional centres who attend our clinics to offer joint specialised clinics, these include cardiology, genetics and surgery.
We deliver a dedicated Paediatric Phlebotomy and allergy testing services. We offer a wide range of development opportunities including, leadership and management training, skills training, service development opportunities.
We are focused on improving our patients and families experience and ensuring they receive the best, compassionate, individualised care throughout their health care journey. We go the ‘extra mile’ for all patients and their family, and appreciate our responsibility for being the ‘window’ to the NHS for some children.
To be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based individualised plan of care. The post holder will also assist in the management and organisation of nursing work in the department
* To be responsible for providing the appropriate nursing evidence based care of an allocated group of patients.
* To work as part of a multidisciplinary team using resources efficiently.
* To deliver quality care to patients and to supervise the working of junior staff during the span of duty.
* To be competent in carrying out a variety of clinical procedures.
The Children's Outpatients Nursing Team is a relatively small team consisting of Children's Nurses, Health Care Assistants and Administrative support. We work closely with extended members of the multidisciplinary team.
Our team belongs to the Children's Directorate within the Family and Specialist Services Division at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust.
