Job Description
We’re looking for a Shift Leader to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. As a Shift Leader, you will work in a fast-paced retail environment where no day is the same.
You will take ownership of store activities by running duty shifts, coordinating a team to deliver a clean and fully stocked store that exceeds customer expectations.
Since the customer is at the heart of everything we do, you will constantly seek ways to improve service through on-the-job coaching and feedback.
You will have a strong understanding of your store’s performance and be the specialist in implementing practical actions for its improvement through a hands-on approach.
With your guidance, your store will always remain a safe place to work and shop.
You will be Responsible For
* Coordinating the team to deliver an easy shopping trip for the community
* Opening/closing the store and completing duty cover, ensuring decisions benefit customers, colleagues, and safety
* Being the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of the Store Manager for day-to-day operational queries
* Supporting the Store Manager in coordinating seasonal, community, and charity events to create an inclusive atmosphere
* Maintaining the store’s cleanliness, tidiness, and presentation
* Prioritizing the replenishment of key products for customers
* Ensuring point of sale and shelf labels reflect high standards
* Addressing overcharges immediately and preventing reoccurrences
* Managing queues proactively to enhance the shopping experience
* Coordinating colleagues’ daily priorities and breaks around trade patterns
* Being knowledgeable about the store and leading practical improvements
* Following health and safety routines and ensuring colleagues do the same
* Communicating effectively with the team and keeping them informed
* Sharing ideas to simplify operations with the Store Manager
* Always prioritizing the customer and personalizing service to meet their needs
* Resolving customer queries promptly and leaving them satisfied
* Recognizing colleagues who deliver excellent service
* Identifying and removing obstacles to great service
* Resolving colleagues’ queries in the absence of the Store Manager or escalating when necessary
* Ensuring appropriate staffing, covering shifts due to absences or sickness
* Acting as a Keyholder, attending alarm call outs for store safety and security
* Monitoring and acting on internal communications, ensuring colleagues are kept updated
* Balancing service and replenishment tasks during shifts
* Supporting the Store Manager with absence management and return-to-work interviews
* Building relationships with Area Managers and People Partners, escalating issues, seeking advice, and engaging in coaching
* If this store has a Post Office Local, your duties include managing daily operations of the post office, which requires passing a background check. Failure to pass will result in withdrawal of the job offer.
