About Rural Community Network Rural Community Network is a voluntary, membership-based organisation supporting rural communities across Northern Ireland. Working in partnership with local communities, statutory bodies and the wider voluntary sector, RCN delivers programmes, training and initiatives that strengthen rural communities and improve outcomes. About the Role Working closely with the Operations Manager and supporting the PEACEPLUS Project Coordinator, you will provide high-quality administrative and secretarial support across Rural Community Network. This role would suit candidates currently working in positions such as an Administrative Assistant, Office Administrator, Project Administrator, Programme Administrator, Team Administrator, Office Coordinator or Business Support Administrator, who are looking to apply their skills in a values-led, community-focused organisation. Key Responsibilities Greet and assist visitors in a courteous and professional manner. Answer, screen and direct incoming phone calls; manage and respond to email enquiries. Support the effective running of the office, including catering and booking systems. Provide hospitality support for meetings and events held in the office. Provide administrative and secretarial support across the staff team. Support events, training courses and meetings, including participant registrations and maintaining accurate records. Act as first point of contact for general enquiries and signpost appropriately. Attend meetings and take minutes as required. Support the preparation of newsletters, presentations and posters. Proof project communications, including research publications and social media content. Manage the RCN Boardroom bookings for internal and external groups. Carry out other duties as agreed from time to time. Person Specification Essential Criteria Minimum 5 GCSEs including English and Maths. Minimum 2 years experience within the last 10 years in an administrative or office support role within a busy organisation. At least 2 years experience within the last 10 years providing front-line administrative support, including handling enquiries from the public or external stakeholders (by phone, email or in person). Demonstrable experience using Microsoft Office / Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook) for day-to-day administration, correspondence and record keeping. Proven ability to organise workload, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce accurate documents and communicate professionally. Evidence of attention to detail and accuracy in administrative tasks, data entry and document preparation. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Experience of minute taking and supporting meetings, training sessions or events. Right to work in the UK. Desirable Criteria 2+ years experience within the last 10 years working within the voluntary, community or public sector. Experience supporting externally funded projects or programmes, particularly those subject to monitoring, reporting or audit requirements (e.g. PEACEPLUS, EU or public funding). Experience assisting with communications or promotional materials, such as newsletters, posters, presentations or social media content. Familiarity with office systems such as booking systems, shared databases or basic CRM-style tools.
