Job overview

An opportunity to work in a new state of the art cardiac facility. The Hampshire Heart Centre offers angiography/angioplasty, complex device implant and an EP/Ablation service.

The role includes pre-assessment clinic, pre op, care, recovering patients post procedure and working within the catheter labs which includes rotating into both labs as and when required.

We are seeking enthusiastic and highly motivated practitioners with some post-registration experience ready to gain new clinical skills. The successful individuals will become an integral member of our friendly and committed team at this very exciting time for our service.

We provide 24/7 cardiac service therefore, on-call is part of the job requirement.

Main duties of the job

·Acting as a scrub nurse for angiograms, angioplasties and complex procedures including complex pacing, EP/Ablation procedures.

·Preparing and laying up sterile trolley in preparation for the cardiac procedures.

·Provide excellent clinical care to those patients pre and post cardiac procedures, including diagnostic angiogram, permanent pacemakers, PCI, DC Cardioversions, TOEs, ablations and EP services.

·Pre assessment of patients pre procedure, giving advice virtually or face to face, ensuring patients are prepared adequately for procedures.

·The post holder will work with the consultants, support the Lead Nurse and assist in teaching and coaching of junior team members.

·The post holder will be expected to work within the catheter lab itself as both a circulating nurse or as a scrub nurse.

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria

3. Professional UK registration e.g. NMC, HPC
4. Degree level education or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through any combination of alternative study, or employment experience.
5. Computer Literate.

Desirable criteria

6. Evidence of acute assessment skills and management of deteriorating patient

Experience & Knowledge

Essential criteria

7. Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD) clearly recorded for professional profile.
8. Knowledge of the management of in-patients and outpatients including evidence-based strategies.
9. Competent in cannulation and venepuncture

Desirable criteria

10. Awareness of local and national agenda within the speciality

Skills & Ability

Essential criteria

11. Clinical Skills appropriate to the relevant area of practice
12. Competent with administration of oral and IV medication
13. Ability to communicate written and verbal information in English, keeping legible and accurate notes.

14. Customer service experience i.e. dealing with complaints
