Job overview

Working Full time: 37.5 hours per week

The post holder will work closely with the relevant specialities, divisional and Trust wide professional teams. Having responsibility for the safe operating and performance of the relevant specialities and the delivery of professional standards pertaining to the clinical services. Responsible for the staff and budgetary management within the services and for ensuring that performance targets and strategic objectives are met, including supporting managing capacity and demand in order to achieve national and local standards.

Developing a strategic approach to service improvement and best clinical pathways in partnership with the Clinical Leads, lead the Governance agenda, ensuring that quality, safety and patient experience are managed effectively in line with national guidance and best practice.

Main duties of the job

1.Ensure improved quality of care, maximise efficiency of service delivery, and optimal performance and productivity in the delivery of patient care.

2.Develop patient pathways and processes to ensure clinical best practice and operational effectiveness to eliminate waste, avoid delay and promote efficiency.

3.Lead responsibility for coordinating clinical risk activities and escalating these to the Divisional Leadership team and Governance Groups in the appropriate manner.

4.Ensure the nursing workforce is engaged and are communicated with. Ensuring they are developed and competent to undertake their roles.

5.Ensure compliance with the statutory requirements, inclusive of regulatory framework and commissioning standards.

6.Responsible for the operational management of staff within the specialities.

7.Responsible for the safe operating and performance, including managing within the defined budget and supporting the delivery of the VIP programme whilst maintaining safety, quality & service user experience.

8.Undertake workforce planning on behalf of the Divisional Director of Nursing, working collaboratively with key stakeholders to maximise recruitment & retention opportunities.

9.Initiate and encourage participation in appropriate approved research programmes and clinical audit activity. To support the advancement of nursing, midwifery and medical knowledge.
