We have an exciting opportunity to join our school as a part time, Specialist Music PPA Cover Teacher to start 1st September 2026. The position is offered on a part time basis to cover PPA time in the afternoons (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays). Salary range is £34,398 - £46,839 (FTE). Pro rata £11,007 - £14,988 MPS Fringe.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Plan and deliver the Music curriculum within the framework of school policies and the National Curriculum
2. Plan Music lessons that encourage the development of pupils' learning, with a particular focus on encouraging pupils' independent use of resources and involvement in their learning
3. Be available to deliver an extra curriculum club
4. Seek ways to promote Music across the school
5. Take responsibility for any key actions that might be identified in the School Development Plan to enhance the Music provision and negotiate costed action plans
6. Liaise with agencies and explore opportunities to enhance Music in our curriculum
Other professional requirements:
7. Establish and maintain a safe environment and purposeful working atmosphere which supports learning and in which pupils feel secure and confident
8. Set high expectations for pupils’ behaviour, establishing and maintaining a good standard of discipline through well-focused teaching and through positive and productive relationships
9. Identify the needs of individuals and groups within the class, taking note of individual education plans and the requirements of the Code of Practice
10. Create and maintain good relationships with colleagues and working as part of a team in all aspects of school development but particularly music
11. Assess how well learning objectives have been achieved and use them to improve specific aspects of teaching
12. Have a working knowledge of teachers’ professional duties and legal liabilities
13. Operate at all times within the stated policies and practices of the school
14. Establish effective working relationships and set a good example through their presentation and personal and professional conduct
15. Endeavour to give every child the opportunity to reach their potential and meet high expectations
16. Contribute to the life of the school through effective participation in meetings and management systems necessary to co-ordinate the management of the school
17. Take responsibility for their own professional development and duties in relation to school policies and practices
18. Liaise effectively with parents and governors as necessary
19. Carry out other duties as reasonably required by the Head Teacher
