About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Project Engineer to join our Rail Systems division. In this role, you will work closely with the Engineering Manager and Project Team Leaders to support the development and delivery of safety and control system projects. You’ll be involved at every stage—from requirement gathering and design to implementation and final documentation—ensuring high technical standards and compliance across the board.
This is a hands-on engineering position with great opportunities for personal development, technical growth, and meaningful project ownership.
Key Responsibilities
* Engage directly with clients to understand project requirements and develop tailored safety and control system solutions.
* Assist in designing, building, and delivering engineering solutions in line with specifications, budgets, and timelines.
* Collaborate with internal teams (Design Engineers, CAD Operators, Documentation Controllers) to generate and review technical documentation:
o Quality Plans
o Hardware Design Specifications
o Wiring Schematics and Schedules
o Software Application Programs
o Test Procedures and Reports
* Provide input on contract changes and support project teams with commercial awareness and technical insight.
* Liaise with the Materials Controller to manage procurement of components and sub-systems.
* Travel occasionally for site work (commissioning, modifications); SCATS training provided as required.
* Ensure strict compliance with quality assurance procedures and safety regulations (including IEC 61511 where applicable).
* Coordinate across engineering disciplines, suppliers, and partners to ensure project success.
* Create and review both internal and client-facing technical documentation.
Required Skills and Experience
* HNC or BEng in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (or related discipline).
* Previous experience in a control and instrumentation systems environment is highly desirable.
* Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
* Familiarity with AutoCAD LT is advantageous.
* Strong understanding of electrical drawings: General Arrangements (GA), Wiring Schematics, and Termination Diagrams.
* Experience with PLC/HMI/SCADA systems including programming, testing, and fault diagnosis.
* Desirable: Understanding of IEC 61511 and principles of functional safety.

Working Hours & Flexibility
* Total Weekly Hours: 37.5
* Flexible Working: Between 07:00 and 18:00, Monday to Friday
* Core Hours:
o Monday to Thursday: 09:00 – 16:00
o Friday: 09:00 – 12:00
* Lunch Break: 12:00 – 12:30 daily
