Project Engineer
* Annual Rate: £21.52/hour PAYE or £24.66/hour Umbrella
* Location: Wakefield
* Job Type: Full-time
Join our team as a Project Engineer in the Environment, Street Scene & Climate Change directorate. This role is crucial for designing and managing the delivery of highway construction schemes and providing technical advice. You will oversee Section 278 agreements and support the implementation of major infrastructure projects.
Day-to-day of the role:
* Deliver highway design and construction projects from inception to completion.
* Manage project lifecycles including consultation, procurement, and implementation.
* Oversee Section 278 agreements to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
* Provide expert technical advice to councillors, developers, and the public.
* Conduct thorough site inspections and manage contractor performance to ensure project specifications and quality standards are met.
* Prepare comprehensive project documentation including estimates, reports, and funding bids.
* Represent the service at meetings, public inquiries, and other relevant forums.
* Deputise for the Engineering & Design Team Leader as required, providing leadership and direction to the team.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* HND or equivalent in Civil Engineering, or substantial equivalent experience.
* Extensive experience in highway construction and project delivery.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD, Key Systems, and MS Office.
* Strong understanding of project management principles and construction standards.
* Proven ability to manage budgets and deliver projects valued up to £5m.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Full UK driving licence is essential.
