About Q3 Academy Langley
Q3 Academy Langley opened its doors in September 2016, becoming the first brand-new secondary education provider in Sandwell in a decade. We are looking to add to our fantastic team of dedicated, hard-working colleagues, who contribute to a wonderful culture of work. Now in 2024 we are one of the leading schools both locally, regionally and nationally. Every week we welcome colleagues from the length-and-breadth of the country to see how we are changing the narrative for education here in Sandwell and being a wider system leader. Our curriculum model is focused primarily on the EBacc subjects, forming our Core. Additionally, we have a project-based, cross-curricular provision (Horizon, Innov8 and Cloud 9) that develops student learning both academically and holistically. Because of this innovative model, there is a minimal strain in terms of lesson planning, leaving time to hone learning and the art of teaching. In May 2019, we received glowing feedback from our first Ofsted inspection. Our lead inspector highlighted outstanding behaviour, pastoral and leadership systems, and noted that Q3 Academy Langley was ‘not a normal school.’
* Our focus on being ‘warm but strict’, and putting knowledge at the heart of our curriculum has led Schools Week to dub us ‘the Michaela of the Midlands’ and our attendance figures have been among the best in the country.
* This is impressive given the socio-economic context (IDACI ‘Deprived’) and the diverse cultural mix of our cohort.
The work of We are in Beta highlighted that for the last two years we are in the top 100 schools in the country for disadvantage progress outcomes. At Q3 Academy Langley, we have the highest expectations of behaviour and politeness, with procedures to support these ideals. We were awarded the Schools of Character award in July 2018, reflecting our commitment to developing young people beyond the classroom. This is one of several external accreditations demonstrating an inclusive learning environment for staff and students alike.
