Teacher

Department: Foundation Learning

Hourly Rate: £15.05 to £16.91 per hour

Contract Type: Variable Hours

Reference: REC2287 | Closing Date: Sunday, 19th October 2025

Variable Hours

This role is offered on a Variable Hours contract for services, giving you the flexibility to choose whether to accept work offered to you. We’ll provide an approximate number of hours you may be asked to work, however there is no obligation for work to be offered, and there’s no obligation for you to accept the work offered.

The Opportunity

You will support our 16–18-year-old learners on a range of Level 1 programmes, helping them build confidence, resilience and the essential skills needed to progress in education, employment or further training. Working closely with the Course Leader, you will deliver high-quality teaching across a variety of subjects, including embedded English and maths up to Level 2, using creative and inclusive approaches that make learning meaningful and relevant.

You will plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons tailored to meet the needs of individual learners, many of whom may not have flourished in traditional educational settings. By building strong, supportive relationships, you will create a safe and encouraging learning environment where every learner can achieve and feel valued. Your role will involve assessing progress, providing constructive feedback and adapting your teaching to ensure that all learners reach their full potential.

At our Fleets campus, you will join a welcoming and collaborative team within a setting that values inclusion, creativity and community. You will contribute to curriculum development, share good practice and work closely with colleagues to ensure a consistent and high-quality learning experience.

This role offers an opportunity to make a genuine difference — helping young people rediscover their confidence in learning and preparing them for their next steps. You’ll have the professional freedom to deliver lessons in innovative ways, supported by colleagues who are committed to sharing ideas and celebrating success together.

About You

You will be a caring, adaptable and motivated teacher who is passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning. You understand that success looks different for every learner, and you are committed to creating an inclusive, engaging and supportive environment where each student can build confidence, develop key skills and make real progress.

Ideally, you hold a recognised teaching qualification (Cert Ed, PGCE or equivalent) and have experience of teaching young people aged 16–18, ideally within a further education or alternative learning setting. Experience of working directly with young people is essential, and any previous experience in youth work, special educational needs (SEN), alternative provision or other roles supporting young people would be advantageous.

You will bring energy, positivity and a genuine belief that every learner deserves the opportunity to succeed. You will be creative in your approach to teaching, confident in adapting lessons to meet diverse needs and able to embed English and maths up to Level 2 in ways that are practical, accessible and engaging.

You will have evidence of ongoing continuous professional development (CPD) and a proactive attitude toward your own learning and growth. Strong classroom management skills, empathy and patience will be central to your approach, enabling you to build trust and inspire learners who may have struggled in more traditional educational settings.

Collaboration will be a natural part of your working style — you’ll enjoy being part of a supportive, close-knit team that shares ideas, celebrates success and works together to achieve the best outcomes for learners. Above all, you’ll bring compassion, enthusiasm and creativity to everything you do, helping young people rediscover their confidence and realise their potential.
