Role Overview
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic reception/clerical officer to provide reception and administrative support to a busy Sexual Health and Contraception Service for 37.5 hours per week. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work calmly under pressure, using initiative to prioritise work to meet deadlines are required.
Key Responsibilities
* Greet all visitors in the reception area, ascertain their requirements and respond appropriately.
* Clarify patient demographics for every contact (face‑to‑face and telephone) and ensure systems are updated regularly.
* Enter clinic attendances and outcomes onto INFORM within the identified time scales and to the required standards.
* Book appointments, update attendances and action referrals.
* Maintain the reception waiting area in an orderly state at all times.
* Answer telephone calls courteously and politely, direct enquiries appropriately, take messages, and liaise with other departments.
* Arrange and respond to transport‑Interpreter requests as directed.
* Maintain confidentiality, safety and security of the reception area and report any adverse matters to senior staff.
* Work flexibly across the service as required.
Location & Working Hours
The post holder will be based at Lance Burn Health Centre and travel across Greater Manchester as required. Hours are Monday to Saturday on a flexible rota basis, total 37.5 hours per week.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Good standard of general education. • Previous experience of dealing with patients or customers. • Good level of computer literacy. • Excellent communication skills. • Ability to work calmly under pressure and prioritise work. • Strong team player with a flexible approach to work, including covering for sickness and annual leave.
