The Directorate of Estates is responsible for ‘providing outstanding work, study, research facilities, and facilities to enhance the student experience, on campus and online’.

This role is part of the Estates Development team within Estates. Estates Development has the responsibility for delivering construction, infrastructure and other projects in line with the University’s Vision while protecting the overall campus masterplan.

This role is part of the Estates Development team, and will report to the Senior Project Manager.

Main purpose of the role

To support with the management of a number of projects, as part of the wider Estates Development team who are accountable for the delivery of the University’s Integrated Infrastructure Plan and to support and maintain the University’s project and compliance processes.

The post holder will have projects allocated to them for which they will have responsibility for ensuring the delivery to time, budget and compliance. They will support the University’s Integrated Infrastructure Plan and design briefs. They will work with colleagues across the wider directorate to ensure all elements of the project are completed and handed over to stakeholders and users.

Ensuring projects follow all regulations, best practices and compliance, the postholder will work alongside Project Managers and will build relationships with external consultants and statutory consultees.

Skills, Experience & Qualification needed

1. Level 3 qualification. (Qualifications at this level include A levels. Please view the full list.) We also welcome applicants with equivalent non-UK qualifications or equivalent professional experience.
2. Construction project management qualification or equivalent experience
3. Develop and maintain agreed project plans defining criteria for control and management of the project.
4. Managed project administration and budgets.
5. Support the Project Managers in ensuring that new buildings/refurbishments are handed over to the University of York as a client, to the required standard and with appropriate documentation.
6. Due to the nature of the role it is anticipated that the successful candidate will need to be on campus for a minimum of three days per week.
