The Warley Male Choir are now seeking a dynamic, experienced, and enthusiastic Musical Director to join our team and help lead us into an exciting new chapter. Key Responsibilities:
● Rehearsal Leadership: Direct weekly rehearsals, ensuring they are engaging, productive, and focused on vocal technique, harmony, and performance.
● Music Selection: Choose and arrange a varied and engaging repertoire, suitable for the choir's skill level and diverse tastes, while also introducing new and challenging works.
● Performance Direction: Lead the choir in performances at local concerts, festivals, and community events, ensuring the highest standard of musical delivery.
● Musical Development: Encourage and support the musical growth of each choir member, offering constructive feedback and coaching where necessary.
● Collaboration: Work closely with the choir's committee and other staff to plan events, concerts, and tours, and to promote the choir's activities within the local community.
● Outreach: Assist with recruitment of new members, fostering a welcoming environment for both experienced singers and those new to choral music.
Requirements:
● Experience: Proven experience as a musical director, conductor, or choir leader, ideally with male voices or community choirs.
● Musical Expertise: Strong knowledge of vocal technique, music theory, and choral repertoire, with the ability to communicate this effectively to a group.
● Leadership Skills: Ability to inspire and lead a group, balancing artistic direction with the personal dynamics of a community choir.
● Passion for Music: A love for choral music and a deep commitment to helping individuals reach their full potential through singing.
● Enthusiasm & Approachability: Excellent communication skills and a warm, engaging personality that fosters a sense of camaraderie and teamwork.
● Organisational Skills: Ability to manage rehearsals, concerts, and other choir activities effectively, with attention to detail and forward planning.
Desirable:
● Experience in arranging or composing for choirs.
● Knowledge of a range of musical genres, from classical to contemporary.
● Willingness to be involved in community outreach and fundraising activities.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £2,500.00-£3,000.00 per year
