About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Remote Operations Shift Manager to join a global leader in gas engineering and distribution. Based at their Remote Operations Centre in Rotherham, this role supports the real-time optimisation of production assets across multiple international sites.
Operating from a 24/7 control room environment, you will use HMI/SCADA systems (including Siemens PCS7) to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of industrial gas production facilities, including Air Separation Units (ASU), HYCO, and CO₂ plants.
Key Responsibilities
9. Monitor and manage the safe, efficient operation of production plants on a 24-hour basis
10. Interface with sites and product supply teams to meet customer demand while minimising business costs
11. Support remote plant start-ups, shut-downs, and emergency response scenarios
12. Monitor and manage plant alarms, investigate performance issues, and track KPIs
13. Conduct efficiency evaluations to identify performance gaps and recommend improvements
14. Produce monthly performance reports and support continual improvement initiatives
15. Assist with the onboarding and training of new sites into the control system
What You’ll Bring to The Team
16. Minimum HNC in Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or Chemical Process discipline
17. Significant experience in control room operations within Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Pharmaceutical environments
18. Familiarity with fractional distillation, high-pressure transfer schemes, and pipeline operations
19. Experience with process interfaces such as SCADA/HMI systems, ideally Siemens PCS7
20. Proficiency in interpreting P&IDs, process schematics, and PFDs
21. Experience with plant commissioning is advantageous
22. High level of personal integrity and a collaborative approach to working within a control room team
23. Engineering degree preferred but not essential with equivalent practical experience
