Job Title: EMEA Tax Manager
Office Location: London, UK
Department Summary
With the expansion of Assets under Management and the related expansion of international activities in various products and locations, the recruited individual will provide direct tax support to the EMEA Head of Tax and work with the International Tax Team based in London, and the wider tax team based in New York.
Principal Responsibilities
1. Undertake tax analysis for the appropriate tax treatment focusing on UK and international tax matters.
2. Provide responses to traders’ questions regarding the tax rules and tax requirements of foreign countries.
3. Assist in and liaise with external advisors when vetting new jurisdictions for PE risks, TSH provisions, treaty provisions, transfer pricing implications, establishing/closing offices, reviewing contractual arrangements for new IT/Server equipment, obtaining/renewing tax rulings.
4. Assist in addressing tax issues related to employees in international locations, including expat tax issues and PE risks of traveling employees.
5. Assist in tax audits of EMEA management companies and fund entities.
6. Review certain international related tax compliance requirements and provide tax support on audited financial statements, including liaising with internal accounting staff and external tax preparers.
7. Monitor and advise the wider tax department and business on international tax developments.
8. Miscellaneous international tax related projects.
9. Interaction with various other internal departments including Accounting, Operations, Legal, and HR.
Qualifications/Skills Required
1. Substantial international tax experience ideally from a tax department of an international Hedge Fund or Private Equity Fund or a Big 4, with Hedge Fund and/or Private Equity experience in international tax research and international tax compliance.
2. Undergraduate/Master’s degree.
3. Relevant recognized qualification (ACA, CTA, CPA, or equivalent) required.
4. Superb research skills.
5. Team player.
6. Self-Motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
7. Excellent analytical skills and judgment.
8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate directly with portfolio managers and senior stakeholders.
9. Experience with tax regimes in EMEA.
10. Ability to multi-task as well as meet short deadlines in a demanding environment.
11. Strong interpersonal skills.
12. Detail oriented; demonstrates thoroughness and strong ownership of work.
