We are seeking applications for a full time Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Team at Colne Ward and Light House located at Riverside Centre in Uxbridge, Middlesex.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Consultant Psychiatrist to lead the Multi-disciplinary Team, for patients age 18 and over who are experiencing an acute episode of mental illness admitted to the Light House and Colne Ward.
The candidate should be on GMC Specialist Register or be within 6 months of obtaining CCT at the time of interview.
CNWL has built on excellent links with Brunel University, successful candidate will have the option to take up an extra 1PA as an educational post.

The Light House is a 4 bedded area within the Hillingdon Hospital, which provides 24/7 a safe and secure environment for patients with an acute mental health condition admitted to A&E Department.
Colne Ward is 8 beds unit for patients aged 18 and over. It is a Trust-wide provision with a proportion of patients coming from other boroughs if no available beds were available at the time of admission.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Clinical Leadership:
Providing clinical leadership for the assessment and management of patients admitted to the PICU and Lighthouse, including conducting ward rounds, reviews, and overseeing care plans.
Comprehensive Assessment and Treatment:
Conducting thorough assessments of patients\' mental health conditions and developing individualized treatment plans.
Multidisciplinary Teamwork:
Collaborating effectively with other members of the multidisciplinary team (nurses, psychologists, social workers, etc.) to deliver holistic care. To meet on a regular basis with the Consultant Psychiatrist in charge of Crane Ward and Frays Ward.
Medication Management:
Prescribing and managing psychiatric medications as part of the overall treatment plan.
Working with patients and their families to facilitate a smooth transition back into the community or to less intensive care settings.
Liaison and Collaboration:
Maintaining communication and collaboration with other healthcare professionals, including community mental health teams and other relevant agencies.
Mental Health Act Implementation:
Ensuring the appropriate implementation of the Mental Health Act in the care of patients, including assessments and reviews.
Quality Improvement:
Contributing to quality improvement initiatives within the PICU, such as audits, service evaluations, and participation in clinical governance activities.
Teaching and Supervision:
May involve teaching and supervising junior doctors or other members of the team.
On-call Responsibilities:
Participating in the on-call rota to provide psychiatric support outside of regular working hours.
Person specification
Education, Qualifications and Training
* Fully registered with the GMC with a license to practice
* Medical degree, MBBS or equivalent
* Approved under Section 12 Mental Health Act with Approved Clinician status or eligible to be on the register of Approved Clinicians (MHA, 2007)
* Inclusion on the Specialist Register (or CCT expected within 6 months of interview date)
* An additional post graduate qualification of relevance to post e.g. Higher degree (MSc, LLM, MD or PhD) Management and leadership training.
* Management qualification and/or extensive knowledge and expertise acquired through training and experience up to doctoral level.
Experience
* Good experience of working in adult inpatient psychiatry services and especially in the care and assessment of complex co-morbidity
* Good experience of working with acute disturbed patients and of Rapid Tranquilisation
* Specific experience and knowledge of psychopharmacology with women
* Comprehensive risk assessment and management in the inpatient setting
* Good working knowledge and experience working with patients detained under sections of the Mental Health Act and attending Tribunals
* Experience of service development/business planning
* High level knowledge of planned developments at a national level to improve efficiency and deliver quality services
* Excellent communication and empathic skills
* Effective communication and ability to share decision-making with patients, relatives and carers; treats patients as individuals, promoting a person-centered approach to their care
* Sound organisational skills
* Awareness of their leadership responsibilities as a clinician and demonstrates appropriate leadership behavior
* Demonstrates understanding of a range of leadership principles, approaches and techniques so can adapt leadership behaviours to improve engagement and outcomes
