Chef Manager – Term Time Only
Location: Chelmsford and surrounding areas
Salary: £38-40,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent
We’re currently seeking dedicated Chef Manager to lead high-performing catering operations at a large, thriving secondary school near Chelmsford and the surrounding area.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Chef Manager who is passionate about great food, strong leadership, and delivering an excellent dining experience in an educational setting.
The Role
As Chef Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a busy secondary school kitchen. You’ll lead a small on-site team, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, safety, and service are maintained. With full control over menu planning, compliance, stock management, and team development, this role offers the perfect balance of autonomy and support.

About You
6. Proven experience in a similar Chef Manager or Catering Manger role
7. At least 3 years’ hands-on culinary experience and 2 years of team/financial management
8. Confident with menu planning, budget control, and compliance standards
9. Food Safety Level 3 (essential)
10. Strong organisational and communication skills
11. A genuine passion for food, service, and leading a team
