Our client is a major design, engineering and project management consultancy who has been rapidly growing within various sectors. They have a great opportunity in their UK team for an ambitious Sediment Dynamics Engineer to join their multi-disciplinary Marine Geo-team, with a focus on acting as technical lead for seabed mobility and scour assessment scopes of work. Locations include Epsom, Croydon or Glasgow.
You will act Technical Lead for sediment dynamics, within their Marine Geoscience service line, leading both seabed mobility and scour assessments scopes of work. You will act as a mentor to junior members of staff in the area of seabed dynamics, and also take the lead in developing their sediment dynamics capabilities, such as by further developing their in-house scour tools, undertaking business development activities as well as presenting their sediment dynamics capabilities to key clients.
They recognise that seabed mobility and scour assessment is a highly multi-disciplinary activity, and they therefore welcome applicants with a range of industry backgrounds, including but not limited to, fluid dynamics, metocean, geospatial consultancy, GIS, marine geoscience, geotechnical engineering, and coastal and maritime engineering.
Your day-to-day role may include the following activities:
- Acting as technical lead for seabed mobility and scour assessments.
- Development of their seabed mobility and scour assessment capability, including presenting to key clients, business development activities and proposing technical investment and capability enhancement activities.
- Providing technical input to bids for seabed mobility and scour assessment scopes of work.
- Acting as a champion for sediment dynamics within their Marine Geoscience team.
- Undertaking seabed mobility and scour assessments for offshore wind farm and subsea cables projects.
- Calibrate models throughout the lifetime of the project.
- Integration and analysis of metocean, hydrodynamic, hydrographic and geotechnical data.
- Numerical sediment dynamics modelling of the seabed throughout the lifetime of the engineered infrastructure (offshore wind farms and cable routes).
- Working closely with marine geophysicists & geoscientists, engineering geologists, geotechnical engineers, and engineering geomorphologists on offshore renewables and subsea cable projects.
