Business Development Manager – Legal

Our client, a highly respected professional services firm with a strong regional and national presence, is looking for an experienced and commercially minded Business Development Manager to join their growing National Business Development team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic thinker with a proven track record of driving growth and developing strong client relationships. The role will focus on identifying and securing new business opportunities, supporting revenue growth, and expanding the firm’s mid-market and corporate client base across the East Midlands.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the delivery of the firm’s long-term growth strategy
* Develop and implement new initiatives to drive revenue and business expansion across the region
* Identify, pursue, and convert new business and cross-selling opportunities within new and existing client relationships
* Monitor market developments and competitor activity to inform business development planning
* Coach, mentor, and support Partners and senior stakeholders on business development best practice
* Work closely with senior leadership to design and deliver innovative products and services that enhance client relationships and create new revenue streams
* Attend networking and business functions, representing the firm professionally and gathering market insights
* Build and maintain strong, productive relationships with intermediaries and referral partners
* Manage and maintain BD pipelines, CRM systems, and reporting processes
* Plan and deliver targeted business development campaigns, seminars, webinars, and client events
* Collaborate with Marketing, PR, and Digital teams to maximise the reach and impact of campaigns
Skills and Experience Required
* Strategic and commercially astute, with a proactive approach to business growth
* In-depth understanding of the UK corporate, mid-market, and SME landscape
* Demonstrable success in generating and delivering new business within a professional services or commercial environment
* Strong relationship-building and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage at senior levels
* Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify new routes to market
* Experience managing multiple stakeholders and driving collaborative initiatives
* Excellent project management and prioritisation skills, with a focus on delivering results
* Commercially aware and financially literate, with an understanding of profitability and growth targets
* Proficiency in CRM systems (such as Microsoft Dynamics), Microsoft Office, and digital business tools
* Strong communication and writing skills, with the ability to brief creative teams and produce engaging marketing copy
