Summary

Join Ruston's Sports Bar as a Bar Team Member and kickstart your career in hospitality. As part of the Level 2 Food and Beverage Team Member Apprenticeship, you’ll serve drinks, support matchday service, deliver great customer experiences and learn key bar and service skills in a busy sports bar environment.

Wage

£7,852 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.


What you'll do at work

* Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in line with company standards and licensing regulations
* Provide a warm, professional welcome to all customers and deliver excellent customer service at all times
* Take and process customer orders accurately using the till system
* Handle cash and card payments responsibly and in line with company procedures
* Maintain a clean, safe and well-stocked bar area throughout service
* Replenish stock, rotate products and report low stock levels to management
* Support food service where required, including serving snacks or light meals
* Check identification and promote responsible drinking in line with Challenge 25
* Follow all health and safety, food hygiene and allergen procedures
* Work effectively as part of a team during busy periods, including matchdays and events
* Manage bookings for Sport and set up rooms/halls
* Assist with opening and closing duties, including cleaning and cashing up
* Build positive relationships with customers to encourage repeat business
* Contribute to upselling promotions, special offers and events
* Complete all apprenticeship training, coursework and assessments as required

* Serve food and beverages to individual business standards.
* Identify opportunities and apply techniques to increase sales and improve customer experience.
* Tailors communication techniques to meet customer needs and build rapport.
* Maintain a safe, hygienic, and secure working environment.
* Comply with health and safety legislation, regulations, guidelines and procedures.
* Follow food safety and allergen legislation and procedures applicable to own role.
* Use technology and equipment in line with business policy to meet customer needs.
* Handle transactions and payments securely.
* Work as part of a team to ensure that the products and services are delivered on time and in line with business needs
* Deal with or escalate issues that impact service and customer experience, and implement any instructions given by supervisor.
* Use professional methods of communication that are tailored to different situations, and individual and team needs.
* Manages own time and workload, prioritising tasks.
* Maintain and rotate stock according to life cycle and business processes.
* Ensure equipment and technology faults and maintenance issues are reported promptly.
* Check customers are satisfied with products and services through questioning and act on feedback in line with business procedures.
* Keep up to date with changes to products and processes.
* Uses feedback to improve own performance.
* Reduces the waste of resources, taking sustainability into account, in line with business expectations.
* Follows and supports equity, diversity and inclusion legislation and principles.
* Participate in team briefings, implementing instructions, and offering input or feedback where relevant.

Training schedule

* A bespoke programme of technical and vocational training
* Functional skills in maths and English*if applicable.

This apprenticeship is delivered wholly in the workplace, the successful candidate will not need to attend any weekly sessions at the Grimsby Institute unless maths or English is required as part of the apprenticeship.


Requirements


Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

* English (grade 3/D or above)
* Maths (grade 3/D or above)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
